The Virginia Placement Test,
commonly known as VPT, is applied at all community colleges in Virginia

1. Types of Virginia Placement Test

College Math placement test

- If you don't get the passing score in Algebra I Test, you will either be required to take a Basic Math skills test or be asked to sit for a test with five diagnostics assessing particular areas of Algebra I.
- If you score out of Algebra I, you will be required to answer another 30 questions in order to assess your Algebra II skills. If you continue to pass, the test finishes or continues to give you a Calculus assessment, depending on how well your Algebra II test performance is. In contrast, in case you can't pass the Algebra II, you will be asked to sit for a test with five diagnostics to determine which areas of Algebra II you are missing and need to be helped.
