WCC Exam
which stands for the Wound Care Certification Examination, is offered
by the National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC) and is viewed as the no.1
wound care credential in the USA. The WCC is a certification which many
health care professionals is trying to pursue apart from their main
licensing credential. WCC Credentials is valid for 5 years. In case of

1. The criteria of applicants for the WCC Exam
Anyone that hope to take a WCC Exam must meet all the criteria below:
– Having an active and unrestricted license as RN, Licensed Practical Nurse, Occupational Therapist,Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Physical Therapist or Physician Assistant.
– Completing application and the supporting documentation that is required
– Completing the exam fees
– Having one of the following options: education; certification, experiential and preceptor.
About the education option, you must be approved to graduate successfully from “Wound Management Certification Training Course” by NAWCO. For the certification option, the active certification as a “CWCN”, “CWON”, “CWOCN” by Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) and a “CWS” American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) will be approved. For experiential option, you must complete 60 hours in skin and wound care from American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC); American Physical Therapy Association, (APTA), National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO), Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), or American Medical Association (AMA). Apart from all requirements for 3 above options, you must show the documentation relevant to the wound care which is licensed for at least 2 full-time years or 4 part-time years.
For the preceptor option, the successful graduation of NAWCO approved “Skin and Wound Management Training Course” will be required. Besides, you must complete at least 120 hours of hands on clinical training with an NAWCO approved clinical preceptor after completion of “Skin and Wound Management Certification Training Course”.
