The Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examinations,
formerly known as WKCE Test, is a test for all students in grade 3 to 8
and grade 10 in the state of Wisconsin. The WKCE Test is designed with
the aim of measuring the knowledge of students in some particular
subjects such: reading, languages, maths, social studies and science.
The WKCE score not only is used to determine whether a student can
advance from grade 4 to grade 5 and grade 8 to grade 9 or not, but also
provides the parents and teachers a clear understanding of their
children. Based on the WKCE score, the parents and teachers can help
students improve their academic performance in order to get higher
learning results. Besides, the WKCE results are also used by The
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WI DPI) to evaluate each
school’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) which meets the requirement from
the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
Additionally, the most special feature which make WKCE test prominent among other tests is that the students will only compete with themselves instead of competing against other test takers. As a result, sometimes, you will find that this test is also called WKCE-CRT (Criterion-referenced Tests)

Commonly, the WKCE test
will be scored two popular ways: a performance level and a scaled
score. The scaled score is provided as a number which is calculated
based on the number of correct answers. The performance level is taking
the scaled score and reports it by one of four following levels:
advanced, proficient, basic, or minimal performance. “Advanced” means
that students have a comprehensive understanding of complicated
subjects. “Proficient” means that students have a solid ground of some

performance” show that students only have the limited and lack of
ability to apply them. With the second way, the student will pass the
